The small, lithe shape of Secretstar raced with an invisible competitor along the bank of the river. She ran for nothing but pleasure, simply enjoying the rush of the wind through her fur. Warm days always drew her away from camp if only for a few moments. Sure, Glowfang would probably reprimand her when she got back for not telling anyone where she was going, but it was worth it to be out observing the beginning of new-leaf. All around her were trees and other plants just beginning to let out their foliage. Beneath her paws was damp ground covered with a blanket of lush emerald green grass. Yes, it was most definitely worth being out there.
Her pace eventually slowed as she felt she could run no more. She was breathing heavily, but a smile was upon her face. That was the most fun I've had in a while. she thought, sapphire eyes gazing across the water before her. The dark pine trees on the other side signified it as FireClan territory. Luckily for them, FireClan cats could not normally swim, so there was little chance of an attack from this side. There you go again. she sighed, smile wiped from her face. Even at a time when she was just trying to enjoy herself the leader side of her kicked in, observing everything from a different point of view. She often wondered why she had agreed to take up the position, it being so binding and all. As she was, Secretstar could never be a normal cat. You never have been. The reminder was accompanied by a sigh.
Good mood ruined, Secretstar decided it was time to return to camp. After, she was their leader; it was where she belonged. Never mind what she wanted, the clan had to come first. No doubt cats would be all over her as soon as she entered, wondering where she had been and whether or not she could do this, that, or the other thing. That was the way it always was. Slowing to a halt, she looked back across the river. It was a beautiful sight, what with the sun shining down on it and all. Perhaps, she thought, perhaps just a little bit longer wouldn't hurt.
