A lanky brown tom made his way through a moor, the wind flattening his fur against his body as he thrust himself head-first into the roaring wind. For most cats, they would have to fight the wind with all their strength, but AirClan cats were not most cats. Since they were six moons, the wind was their friend, if used properly. If the tom were to face the other direction, he would be upwind of any prey, and there was no point to that. Better to get close to the prey before running after it.
This AirClan cat, by the name of Falconspirit, then proceeded to sit down. He was enjoying the wind, and was in no hurry to find prey for his Clan. The sun had just come up, so the prey will come too. Since he was, in fact, in no hurry, his mind wandered back just a few sunrises ago. Though he was a senior warrior, he had not expected to be chosen as deputy after the current one had died. Unable to keep the bewilderment from his face, he had leaped up, taken completely unprepared, which had sent a murmur of amusement through the Clan. Now, for once, he was finally alone, and he was going to make the best of it. Life for him had been a little stressful as he had continued to adapt to the responsibilities of deputies, and he was confident that he now was proficient. He no longer made mouse-brained mistakes like putting a cat on border patrol and on a hunting patrol at the same time. Shaking his head, he focused back on the task at hand.
His vivid green eyes, the color of the windswept moor grass, scanned the landscape, looking for signs of prey. Tilting his head upwards, he thrust his nose into the wind. There! The steady smell of rabbit reached him, carried by the wind. Trotting towards the source, he caught sight of the rabbit. Unfortunately, the rabbit caught sight of him. Breaking out into top speed, Falconspirit flew across the moor, claws extended as he leaped, only a few tail lengths away from his quarry...

Shadowedheart was very good at hiding, even if her coat was white. She saw Falconspirit sitting down, letting the breeze flow through his coat. In no hurry to get back to camp, and do his duties.
The white she-cat watched the tom silently, making sure that he couldn't smell her. She saw Falconspirit jump, and knew why to. Remebering the day that you became deputy? she guessed. She was surprised to, for she wanted to be deputy to, but she had allowed that surprise slip away from her, and had greeted the cat as her new deputy.
Shadowedheart looked around to see if any prey was out, for it was getting boring sitting here. She then heard something, and turned to see Falconspirit chase the rabbit. He missed she mused. She now knew why she picked this spot in the first place, all prey come this way for some reason. The rabbit came straight towards her, and she caught it was her claws.
She killed the rabbit quickly, then turned to Falconspirit, and walked out of her hiding spot. She dropped the rabbit in front of him, "Greetings, Falconspirit. I caught your rabbit for you." she mewed.

(by the way, he was remembering how he had jumped in surprise. He didn't actually.) Dejectedly, Falconspirit padded silently over to his Clanmate, who dropped what had been his quarry at his feet. Unsure of what to say, he merely mewed, "Thanks," and nodded respectfully. "I was planning on catching a good bit of prey, since greenleaf is just around the corner. Would you like to hunt with me?" he blurted out, immediately embarrassed afterward. Though nothing was unusual about his request, he still felt his fur heat up from the intensity of his embarrassment. Unable to look Shadowedheart in the eyes, he focued on the rabbit, which was quite plump.
How could I have missed that catch? he thought to himself, trying to fend off some of the embarrassment. That was something he hated more than missing a rabbit - the fact that sometimes he just couldn't understand or control his emotions. He then proceeded to give up wondering why he had missed the rabbit, and looked deep within himself for the answer. His eyes, however, were still focused on the rabbit, and his face had a look of deep concentration on it, but he himself did not notice this. Why was I so embarrassed to ask that? he asked himself, but he had no answers to give himself.
The gusty wind was still blowing against him when he snapped back into reality, and his green eyes lifted to meet Shadowedheart. There was nothing wrong, or embarrassing in asking a Clanmate to hunt, especially since he was deputy. He could have ordered Shadowedheart to bring back prey for the Clan, anyway, he decided. Surely it was better to ask instead of demand.

Shadowedheart looked at the deputy, "Your welcome, and I wouldn't mind hunting with you." she mewed. She noticed his fur starting to bristle in embarssement. She looked down at the rabbit, but looked back at the cat in front of her.
The white she-cat looked at Falconspirit, and sighed. "Falconspirit, is everything alright? You seem...." she couldn't figure the last words, and she didn't want to make him mad with her. She already had some warriors mad at her for no reason, but she didn't let that distract her from doing what she needs to do for her clan.
Shadowedheart looked at Falconspirit, waiting for a reply. She saw his green eyes come up to meet her's, and she knew that he wasn't mad with her.

(I'm going to post a completely lousy post, and then get back to crashing from my exams! G'night!) The lanky tom shook his head, as if he were trying to discouragement a fly from landing on it. "Yeah...sorry...I just..." Falconspirit started, then took a deep breath. What was he going to tell her? That he couldn't handle his new duties? Who knows? She might see herself more fit for the job... no. She has genuine concern for me. If she were going to hurt me, it would have been earlier, he thought to himself, and then was upset with himself. How could he think such things of a fellow warrior?
"Deputyship...has been overwhelming lately. I just hope I get the hang of it soon," he finally concluded, now nervous to see what her response might be. Deciding that it might be better to just not give her a chance to say one, he then added, "Let's hunt, then, shall we?" and proceeded to then trot off a little bit away, some of his fur still prickled up awkwardly.
Sniffing the air again for signs of prey, Falconspirit saw - and smelled - another rabbit. It had seen him, though, too, and began to run the other way. His ears flattened in concentration, he went from standing stock still to running full speed in a matter of heartbeats. He was flying - oh, what a sensation! Green eyes glittered fiercely with newfound energy as he bounded across the windswept moor, his prey the only thing he cared about. Daggers shot out of his brown paws, the wind whistling ferociously in his face. Slitting his eyes, the tom leaped, and caught the rabbit, falling to earth on top of the rabbit with a slight thud.

Shadowedheart head her deputy start to talk, and when he said sorry, she just said, "Don't be." and tryed to smile. She waited to see if he would saw more, or something.
"I hope you........" she was about to saw, when he had finished tell her that he was having trouble, when he changed the subject to hunting again. She nodded and followed him. She looked around trying to see if there was any more prey, other than the rabbit that she had caught.
Shadowedheart saw a flicker from the corner of her eye, and she turned her head to see Falconspirit going after a rabbit. She giggled to herself. Sometimes it was fun to watch other cats go after a rabbit. She was so busy giggling to herself, that she didn't notice the scent of a rabbit, untill it came to her again. She looked in the dierection of the scent and saw a rabbit.
She looked back at her deputy, then to the rabbit. She waited for a while untill she was sure that the rabbit hadn't seen her. And when she was sure that it hadn't, she flew right after it. The rabbit tried to run, but she was to close for it to escape. Gotcha. she thought. Her right paw came out and snatched the rabbit. She bit it and the rabbit was dead. She carried it back to the other rabbit and waited for Falconspirt.

Biting into the nape of his brown, fluffy prey, the tom picked the rabbit up. Great! Falconspirit thought to himself, This should feed two cats on its own! The rabbit was plump, probably the prime of the season. Tail high in the air and ears perked, he trotted back to the small pile of rabbits, his fur plastered against his body from the fierce wind. He was feeling good again, after that brief point of...well...uneasiness. Shadowedheart had been a candidate for deputation (deputyship + spell check = house on fire) as well, and it must have hurt a little bit that she had not been chosen. Or perhaps not. One never knows what another cat is thinking, after all...
He had decided that thinking, at this point, would be a bad idea. Just hunt, and enjoy life a bit, before you have to go back to your duties as deputy. Enjoy this little bit of free time you have left. Let it be your only selfish act until you die or retire... was probably his line of thinking. Falconspirit said, as he put the rabbit down on the pile, "This should probably be enough, don't you think?" he did not want to be a demanding deputy, and starting off with something as small as agreeing over the amount of prey would quickly get his appearance as a deputy who does not think himself higher than his warriors, which was what Falconspirit thought himself to be anyway. He was just a senior warrior, one of many senior warriors. The elders had all the wisdom, as well as the leader. He was just filling in the position...
(I am putting all my muse into Feathersong and trying to get her into my head, so if I do something completely un-Falconspirit-ish, sorry)

Shadowedheart put the rabbit down and looked around. She sat there for a while then looked back to the pile. This is a good hunting day. she thought. She shook her head and got the thought away. Of course is was a good hunting day. Every day was, for her.
Shadowedheart pricked her ears when she heard Falconspirit speak. She turned to look at him. Let's see? Some for the elders, and queens... she thought. "Yep." she mewed. She picked up some rabbits and started to walk to camp. She stopped, and put the rabbits down, and looked over her shoulder to Falconspirit, "You coming?" she asked.

Falconspirit jerked his head up, startled out of his thoughts by the voice of Shadowedheart. He lifted his head to acknowledge her words. Why do I keep on spacing out like this? The other cats will think me weird... he scolded himself silently. he would make sure that Fadedstar did not regret his chioce to make Falconspirit deputy, even if it meant doing the most boring things imaginable. He was a cat of action, but if his clan needed to be fed, then his focus would be to feed them. He then got up, shook his coat out, and mewed, "Yes, coming," as he padded across the moor towards the camp.
Truly, he did have a lot to think of, but he should never let his thoughts and emotions get in the way of the duty to his Clan. Falconspirit knew that he was scolding himself more than he should, but he just could not shake it off. What if I space out in battle? What will happen then? The other warriors looked to him and the leader for orders - he could not afford to do that. He would have to strengthen his mind so that it did not do that. It was simply intolerable. Listen to yourself, he scolded, What are you, some sort of weirdo? Just relax... there was something wrong with him today, and at the moment, he felt the best way to fix that was to make it tomorrow.
Falconspirit padded past Shadowedheart and the rabbits, still deep in these confusing and confounding thoughts that had chosen today to surface. Maybe he should not have accepted the position - he had never felt this confused and disoriented before. He sighed, and subconsciously let his tail droop a little bit. Forgetting all about the warrior, he slowly padded towards camp, with the look of a hunted cat. That's all he needed, was a little break from this new duty -- but he had only received the responsibility today... could he handle the long term commitment it demanded?

Shadowedheart looked at Falconspirit as he went past her. She ran up to him, and put her paw in front of him. "Is something wrong Falconspirit? You can tell me, I would tell anyone, I give ou my promise that I will not." she asked the deputy.
She sat down in front of the tom, waiting for him to answer her question. She knew that he wouldn't tell her. Every tom tryed to keep secrets from her. Always telling their friends that she was a evil she-cat and should never be trusted. They maybe right. she thought.
Shadowedheart sighed, "Falconspirit, you don't have to tell me. I'm used to cats tell their friends secrets about me. And how I shouldn't be trusted. I understand." she meowed, and got out of the deputy's way.
