A chat with Shatterstar (Shatter and Mystic)

[Mysticmemory]

Mysticmemory stepped into the leader's den and looked around, hoping to find him.

Shatterstar looked up as Mysticmemory entered is den. "Greetings Mysticmemory! What brings you to my den?" he asked, dark green eyes welcoming. He sat down and curled his tail over his paws, waiting for his sisters reply. Suddenly, he got a weird sensation that he was being watched, like eyes were burning into his pelt, waiting for the right moment to strike. It'd probably nothing, and if it is something, I know enough to protect myself and Mysticmemory. he thought assuredly, but was still a bit nervous about whatever it might be.

[xx. Bane]

A moving shadow, solid darkness, yet no more than a ghost appeared. Wicked yellow eyes pierced into Shatterstar's soul. Yes, that's right, talk to your medicine cat. She will make an excellent witness... Nothing could stop her from doing this, nothing. And this little fun excursion would prove it... "Well, well, Shatterstar, do you remember me?" she whispered, padding through Mysticmemory to stand right in front of the -- may I say former -- leader, "Oh, no, your beloved sister cannot see me. Not one cat can see me if I so wish. I have become powerful, Shatterstar. More powerful than you StarClan fearing cats could ever be!" her eyes glowed with triumph as she snapped at Shatterstar, stopping an inch before the cat's nose.

Mysticmemory tilted her head curiously. "Whats wrong Shatterstar?" she mewed, worried about her brother.

Shatterstar froze as a dark, almost transparent figure appeared in his den. Remember her? Who is she? he wondered. He growled as she spoke. "More powerful the StarClan..." he murmured softly. Then she must be from the dark forest! he thought worriedly. This was one cat he couldn't defeat. He jumped back as her jaws snapped just inches from his nose. "You may be strong, but you'll never keep my clan from the warrior code!" he growled, hoping it was true. For once, he feared another cat. And this one was dead.

"What? I'm not strong, or trying to keep the clan from the warrior code. What the heck are you talking about?" she meowed. What shatterstar said sent a shiver down her spine. What was wrong with him? He had jumped back like something was snapping at him, but why?

[xx. Bane]

Bane chuckled to herself darkly. It was painfully obvious that her lifelong enemy was afraid. It was also clear that Shatterstar did not remember her. Well that at least could be fixed. "Oh, I have no bone to pick with your Clan. You should be proud of such honorable warriors. For them to be led by such a fiendish traitor as you. You are the reason I am here. The reason I have bided my time in the torture of the dark forest for all these seasons. And now it is time for you to pay for your crimes." She loomed higher, so that she was higher than Shatterstar, and he was forced to look up if he wished to meet her eyes. This is how it should be. I shall bend him to my unrelenting will and he shall pay!

Shatterstar looked at Mysticmemory, suddenly remembering she was there. He opened his mouth to tell her she wasn't talking to her, but Bane began to speak again. "Traitor? If anyone's a traitor it's you, filthy mouse-brain" he growled. As she seemed to grow larger, his dark green eyes met her yellow ones. "What do you want with me? Whatever it is, I'll do it, so long as you don't hurt my clan!" he replied, looking up into her menacing yellow eyes.

"Why are you calling me a traitor Shatterstar!? I would never try to hurt the clan, and you know that!" she meowed. She stared at her brother confusingly.

Now for the finishing touch... Bane extended her power to the den, allowing the medicine cat to see her. This would be perfect -- exactly what she wanted to do... with a nice touch on it as well. "Now, Shatterstar, if you want to save the destruction of your Clan for a later date that better suits, you should come with me," she said, growling deep in her throat with pleasure, "Then again, I don't really need your permission to do this. Let's just go, shall we?" Backing up against the wall of the den, she tensed her hind legs, leaping for Shatterstar... and vanished to the dark forest, pulling her quarry along with her.

Shatterstar stood firm as he watched Bane prepare to leap. "Tell the clan I went on a journey, Mysticmemory. They don't need to know of this, it will only frighten them. Try to keep the clan together!" his instructions hung in his den up in the trees of the cave. Not now, not while I have no deputy! he thought. He felt heavy paws hit him and his world fell into darkness.

Mysticmemory blinked blankly, staring at the wall of the now empty den. She HAD to tell the clan the truth, and if shatterstar was gone long, they would get even more worried if she told them he went on a journey.
